Tom Brady, my new favorite athlete in the world, just cost Joe "Ghost of Kosar" Flacco almost a million bucks. From the Baltimore Sun:

"Tom Brady's new contract lowers the 2013 exclusive franchise tag number from $20.46 million to $19.63 million."

Let's be real. This is an organization that cut their Quarterback after winning the Super Bowl 13 years ago. Flacco was never going to make Peyton or Brady money. I suspect he will sign a cap friendly deal, something like a backloaded 5 year/$60M dollar deal with $20M guaranteed, using roster and option bonuses to prorate the guaranteed money over the terms of the contract.

Flacco sucks. He is a run of the mill QB who got hot at the right time, and the Ravens are going to make a costly mistake giving him elite QB money when he is a journeyman QB at best. Guitarist, u were right when u mentioned Dilfer. The Ravens made the right move then, but they won't now.

Cool forum, btw. Came here at GX's request. Hello to all. Cool

Sup Al. Glad to have you.

I agree — I think he is a slightly above average QB that got really hot. But it's the American way to cash in whether you deserve it or not. Hopefully he is team oriented and takes a little less so they can keep Boldin and Ed Reed.

When you are gonna be that rich, is there a difference between a net worth of $100 million and $120 million? I'm sure he can make up the difference in endorsements.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Yeah johnnyBuz, ur right. I can't hate on the guy for takin a payday, and I'm not. I'm just sayin that he's no Rodgers or Brady or Manning, (not even Eli), but hey, if the Ravens don't pay him, somebody will. I believe he is a team guy and will make a deal that helps the team too.

Better than a week in Pago-Pago shacked up with a Miss Universe runner-up?  No.

More than root-canal?  Yes  (except for once, but that's another story)

these things are relative…
