Ha! gee, thanks, but that turns out not to be the case
still giving me grief: got e-mail running* & managed to recover virtually all the data from the currently defunct laptop (that took 2 full days) but all is not well – among other things, I still got no sound despite the fact that we screwed with it for 4 hrs on Monday n' even installed a new sound card (after all the tests insisted the onboard card was functioning perfectly (I guess it was, providing you ignored the silence) which in turn was functioning perfectly well (making noise as directed) when I took the machine home but refuses to do any such thing since I got it here n' set it back up (all the tests insist it's functioning perfectly, etc…)
managed to overlook some stuff in the move n' I gotta fire the ol' pooch back up to grab some things I bypassed n' run transfer wizard to pick up a bunch of my missing settings
it's comin' along, but the path has been neither smooth nor level thusfar; it's gonna take some time yet…
*-you don't wanna know what a chore that was!
