I hate FFB pundits & "experts", like this quoted from everybody's favorite FFB news site tonight:
"(Luck threw) what might have been a 60-yard touchdown. The ball was a bit overthrown, but it clanked right off DHB's hands with nothing but green grass ahead."
The ball did not "clank off his hands". At full extension, the ball grazed high off of Heyward-Bey's fingertips. It's barely possible he might have made a sensational catch by timing a dive perfectly, but he'd have had to faceplant to do so. Even in an infinite universe, there's no possible way that play was going for a TD by the time DHB reached for the ball. The simple fact is that Luck blew it & overthrew a wide-open receiver who'd beaten the coverage.
But all the "experts" love Luck's talent no matter how poorly he plays & dismiss DHB as an underachiever no matter how well he performs. I'm not claiming DHB's the new Jerry Rice by any means, but that incompletion just wasn't in any conceivable way his fault. It isn't baseball & you can't give a guy an error just because he managed to barely get a mitt on the ball. If Luck had hit him in stride, sure it would've gone for a TD but the only one who did anything wrong there was the QB, not the WR.
I'm tired of receivers getting blamed for drops on balls that maybe, just maybe, Fred Biletnikoff might've hauled in if you spotted him a gallon jug of Elmers. Especially by those making their living by giving us the benefit of their "wisdom"…

Update on my tm (back on pg 153):
Now 4-2 after an 0-2 start in which I had more pts scored against than anyone in the lg. Glorious start early Sunday curdled with Amendola, Graham & Dez all coming up sub-atomic (that's small) in tne late games, but I hung on for the win. Half the roster has turned over. Gone are everybody I took after 8.01 except Bryce Brown - Roethlisberger, Cierre Wood, Stills, Wheaton, Rudolph, Hauschka & the Houston Def. Replaced by Pryor (great bye-wk matchup vs Philly), Woodhead, McGahee, Edelman, Clay, Mason Crosby & the Carolina Def (K & Def already past bye).
Currently trying to decide if I can afford the time to try to deal McGahee or if I should just drop his sorry butt in favor of grabbing Andre Brown before somebody else thinks of it. Leaning heavily toward the latter, even though I hate to just throw in the towel on any feature back, no matter how used-up he looks. And Cleveland's schedule's terrible too, almost totally filled with nothing but tough run-defenses – slim chance I'd ever be willing to start him. Amendola's on shaky ground as well – I think the Pats need him too badly to ever give him the time to really heal up. Looks to me like he might be hobbled all season. Might be better just to give up n' move on. He's not keepable anyway.
I might be able to get Trent Richardson for Tate & BBrown from the tm that's started 0-6 & doesn't like his crop of potential keepers. Questioning whether I should sacrifice some of my own just to upgrade the RB corps. Watching Richardson tonight, I'm wondering just how much of an upgrade that would actually be. I could afford to, no question, but I know he lusts after Tate & he might make Forte available later on (already turned down my first offer – said it was fair, but he decided to hang onto him for now). Richardson for two bench backs looks like a helluva buy-low, but it'd probably take me out of any shot at Forte if that would eventually happen. Bird in the hand vs much bigger, juicier bird in the bush. I dunno…
Anyways, 3rd place, game out of 1st & 5 total pts off the lg lead. Not bad for the opening six wks.
