Just wondering what the general thoughts are on these guys… both entrenched as starters and both coming off of shitty seasons.. Which do you like better for this season (and beyond) and why? Which is in a better offense to succeed? Who has the better tools and weapons to work with?

Bradford is my choice. I think he has the better skill set. He should be moving to take over this O just like Eli & Ben did as there #1 RB started to turn down…I am hard pressed to say who has more weapons as the draft has muddied the waters.. & we will have to wait & see

Freeman can be the better of the two, but Bradford will be.

I think that this sums up my thinking pretty nicely.

I'll third the sentiment plus I think the rams will pass more thus I think bradford will be the better ff qb….and that's coming from a bucs fan.

Put me on the Freeman bandwagon. Better overall weapons, better O-line, better team.

I simply don't know enough about what has happened to both teams in the offseason. Last year was terrible for St Louis, but nothing at all went right for them. They certainly needed some upgrades at a lot of positions…not so much in talent as in endurance, as they are/were far to prone to injury.
The Bucs need to get an identity back, and I honestly dont think they will click until they do. Freeman has the ability, and talent is not terrible around him, but they just seem like they have no direction or fire.
If someone has the time to fill me in on the offseason for these teams, it'd be appreciated. I've gotta start looking for my annual up-and-comer team, and that means looking at the flunkers from last year.

I really dont know much about Schiano, and that will be the ticket as to what they do. Kellen Winslow doesn't like the signing, so they must be doing something right. From all I can tell he's a no-nonsense type. From experience, that mentality can go one of two drastically different ways: the players respond and it gives them the direction I was talking about, or they rebel, and there's mutiny on the field.
Fisher, I have always thought was an excellent coach. Unfortunately, he will likely worry about the defense first, and his approach doesn't always amount to enormous offensive output, but he will make it effective.
As for talent, adding Jackson is HUGE, but the rest don't excite me a lot. I don't know a lot about some of those names. All St Louis really needs is consistent help at the receiver position, their line to stay healthy, and probably someone to chip in at RB to keep SJax upright, and they should do well.
I think I would trust the experienced coaching of Fisher over a new college coach. I'd go Bradford, despite the fact that I think Freeman has more talent around him.

IMO K2 didn't like schiano because he's a no-nonsense coach and because he has a run orientated offense.

from rotorooter:
After studying Sam Bradford's 2011 game tape, ESPN's Ron Jaworski says he was "troubled" by Bradford's "increasing tendency to anticipate the rush" and operate tentatively in the pocket.
Jaws calls Bradford a "top arm talent" with a "compact delivery and a strong arm," but alluded to stunted development last season. "In 2011, Bradford — with very few exceptions — did not look like the same, confident pocket quarterback that I saw as a rookie," Jaws observed. "He was tentative in the pocket, a function of both erratic offensive line play and receivers that could not win on the outside. But I was troubled by Bradford's increasing tendency to anticipate the rush. I call that 'Cabin Fever.'" Jaworski expects the Rams to "manage" Bradford under Jeff Fisher with a "run-first approach," and deems the third-year quarterback, "right now, a question mark."

Jaws is entitled to his opinion but I don't know if I'd consider him a great authority on qbs. Plus he admits bradford had reason for his "cabin fever" because of the rams' shaky o-line.

Bradford has been complete garbage since getting drafted. I can't believe anyone is still on his bandwagon.
Bradford has eclipsed 300 yards twice… this while playing on a bad team who's often behind and forced to throw.
Bradford didn't throw for more than 1 TD in any 2011 game.
Not a chance Bradford gets drafted by my squad. I'd take freaking Tarvaris Jackson over Bradford.
Things just didn't go Freeman's way last season. MWTB quit, and the team didn't play very well. Look for V.Jax to improve his numbers and if MWTB decides to play Tampa would then have one of the best WR combos.

Fair point but name a wr or te that was worth a damn on st louis' roster these past couple of years. I remember people making the same argument about vick when he was in atlanta, but they ignored the fact he had crappy wrs. Now we're seeing what he can do with some good wrs to throw to

Never said St. Louis had any offensive weapons outside of S.Jax in 2011, but they really haven't added anything in 2012 either… If the Lambs added V.Jax, took a chance on R.Moss, and drafted a WR in the first round I'd think about drafting Bradford… but they didn't and I won't touch him.

Does this mean you would take SF wonder boy…
Does TB QB have a edge based on the teams he plays & the score of the games VS those teams… just a thought

I would take Smith this season. Not as a #1, but if I get a top 3-5 Qb I wouldn't mind Alex as my #2. They did add 2 WR's with one having all world talent. Not sure if we will see it, but it's worth a late round flyer.
Smith finished my league 5 points behind Freeman… I'd still go Freeman first, but Smith is probably a little better than one might think.

Throwing out the fact that it was Jaws saying it, the quotes about Bradford seem that they would have a good deal of truth to them. Again though, I am almost positive they are going to stay conservative in Tampa as well. So, the decision between these two comes down to whether you trust the supporting cast, or proven coaching more. Frankly, the posts since mine have put me on the fence. I guess since we are not likely talking about a starter, but more a backup QB, and they both look to grade out rather evenly, I'd have to go with the one with the more upside, and I think that it's more likely that the coaching is competent in Tampa, which leaves Freeman with the edge due to his supporting cast which includes good to great WRs and TEs, and a new explosive "hands" RB, and likely a better Oline.
I'd say that scenario is more likely than St Louis' cast staying healthy and over-producing.
