In essence, Payton agreed in September 2011 to coach the Saints through 2015 unless his GM was suspended, a curious clause to request … unless Payton knew, as he obviously did, that the NFL was looking into the Saints' bounty program, which made Loomis vulnerable to suspension.

That is like buying get out of JAIL CARDS… why… CAUSE YOU KNOW YOU ARE GOING… this has cross more than an ethical line… here is the full article

What do you think? is he smart or does this prove his guilt

Thanks for the math help

I'm afraid I don't understand the problem.  As near as I can figure, the bottom line is that he signed a contract tying his employment to the GM; as long as the guy he wanted to w*rk with was his boss, he'd stay.  If not, he had an out.  If the Saints wanted to go another direction at GM, they'd have to renegotiate if they wanted to keep him as well; he wouldn't be contractually forced to deal with someone he didn't want to.

If that's okay with the Saints (& I don't get why they'd want to give their coach that kind of power either), then I can't see why anyone else has a problem with it.  The only one taking any sort of loss here would be the New Orleans team administration and if that's what they want to do it would seem to be their own business and nobody else's.  I don't see at all where fans &/or pundits have a right to any input in the way they want to run their company & their employees.

And I totally can't comprehend why the NFL saw something wrong with that…
