In my league we can keep 2 guys.. I plan to keep Gronk and Jimmy G… I have Victor Cruz on my roster and can trade him for picks.
Problem is whomever I trade Cruz to has to use their 4th round pick to keep him… While I don't get the 4th rounder it's hard to get much in return.
So while I have the 10th spot in the odd rounds and the 3rd spot in even I'm thinking about offering Cruz for the 5.3, 7.3, 9.3, 11.3 etc for my 5.10 9.10, 11.10, etc…
In other words I'd gain 7 spots in the odd rounds and an extra 7th round pick. Not a lot, but something is better than nothing. I also won't just give him away.

Pulled off the deal last night…
I get 5.1 and 9.1 while giving up 5.10 and a player I couldn't keep.
Best part about this is we can't keep anyone drafted in the first 2 rounds. With this move there are no 3rd round picks and only 2 4th round picks. This means I have the 3rd shot at landing the best keeper for 2012. I place a lot of value on 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3 for this very reason.

Nice move. Being able to start both of those TE and the picks you've amassed, I'm thinking this should be a fun draft and season for you!

you should always do that
much better to get something than nothing – I don't have an 11th or 12th rd pick at all this yr (and no 17th) but I've got three 7ths & two 9ths; not all that exciting but the cumulative advantage should prove to be nice
another trick is to deal with an opposite number in your keeper rds: if you've got the 10th spot in the odd rds & want to keep someone in an even rd, deal away your pick in that rd for the 10th n' the top pick in the next rd for your 10th – offer, for example, your 6.01 & 7.10 for his 6.10 & 7.01 …he gets the greater advantage but your 6.01 would've been wasted so it costs you nothing & improves you 9 spots in the next rd
I do that every yr & have only ever been turned down once – everybody else has always jumped at the chance to improve in a higher rd in exchange for moving down in a lower n' it's a win-win deal
